You just signed up — here's exactly what to do to get the most out of Chunk from day one. No prior setup needed.

Ask your first question

Head to the Chat tab and type anything — a question, a topic you're curious about, or a task you need help with. Chunk uses AI to search the web and give you a comprehensive answer with sources.

  • GPT-5 Mini is free for everyone — no upgrade needed to start chatting.
  • Try different search modes: Auto Search picks the best mode automatically, Web Search pulls live results, and Assistant answers from AI knowledge alone.
  • You can attach up to 4 images and 5 documents directly in your message.

Try a Research Report

Want to go deeper on a topic? Switch to Research mode and Chunk will generate a multi-page report complete with sources, citations, and structured sections.

  • Quick Outline (~30s) and Standard Report (~2min) are free for all users.
  • Pro unlocks Deep Research (5-7 min) and Detailed Reports with optional AI images.
  • Export any report as PDF or Markdown, or share it with a public link.

Create your first Note

Open the Notes tab and create a new note. Chunk gives you a rich text editor with formatting, templates, and AI writing tools built in.

  • Use templates (Research Summary, Meeting Notes, Essay Outline) to get started quickly.
  • Type [[ anywhere to link to another note — this creates wiki-links that connect your ideas.
  • Save any AI chat response directly as a note with one click.

Upload a Document

Go to the Documents tab and upload a PDF, Word doc, spreadsheet, or text file. Chunk indexes your files so the AI can search through them when you chat.

  • Supports PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV, RTF, XML, MD, EPUB, and XLSX (up to 10MB).
  • Tag your documents for easy filtering — use tags like "Work", "Research", or "Personal".
  • Use "Documents Only" or "All" search mode in chat to include your files in AI responses.

Create a Collection

Collections let you group related documents, URLs, conversations, and research into a themed workspace. You can then chat with your collection using all its content as context.
