Chatting with AI
Start a conversation by typing a message. You can choose from multiple AI models — GPT-5 Mini is free for everyone, while Pro unlocks premium models like GPT-5.2, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Claude Opus 4.6, and Gemini 3. Attach up to 4 images and 5 documents directly in your message for the AI to analyze.
Search Modes Explained
Chunk offers different ways to search. Auto Search picks the best mode automatically. Web Search pulls live results from the internet. Documents Only searches your uploaded files. Assistant answers from the AI's own knowledge. YouTube finds relevant videos. Research generates in-depth reports. Choose a mode from the dropdown in the chat input.
Getting Started with Documents
Upload PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets, and more to build your personal knowledge base. Chunk indexes your files so the AI can search through them when you chat. Upload from the Documents page, tag them for easy filtering, and use 'Documents Only' or 'All' search mode to include them in your conversations.

Create rich text notes with formatting, checklists, code blocks, tables, and more. Use built-in templates to get started quickly, or save any AI conversation as a note. Notes auto-save as you type, and you can organize them with tags. Use AI writing tools to polish your text — fix grammar, adjust tone, or translate.

Tagging Your Documents
Organize your uploaded documents with tags like 'Work', 'Research', or 'Personal'. Add a tag when you upload a file, or edit it later from the Documents page. Tags make it easy to filter and find specific documents when chatting with Chunk.
Filtering Chat by Document Tags
Control which documents Chunk searches when answering your questions. Tap the filter icon in the chat input to select tags and choose a filter mode — match a single tag, combine tags with And/Or, or exclude tags with Not. Available in 'Documents Only' and 'All' search modes.
Using Collections
Group related documents, URLs, conversations, and research reports into themed Collections. Add a URL and Chunk automatically extracts its content. Choose exactly which items provide context for a collection-scoped AI chat — perfect for focused projects or study topics.
Generating Images in Chat
Just describe what you want — say 'create an image of a sunset over mountains' or 'generate an infographic about climate change' and Chunk will create it. Image generation works automatically with GPT-5.2 and Gemini 3 Pro models. Free users get 5 images per day, Pro users get 20.
Research Report Types & Settings
Choose from 5 research report types: Quick Outline for fast answers, Standard Report for thorough coverage, Deep Research for extensive multi-step exploration, Resource List for curated sources, or Detailed Report for comprehensive analysis with optional AI images. Customize the writing tone and citation format in Advanced Options.
Save Notes to Documents
Make any note searchable by AI. Tap the hard drive icon in the note editor to save your note as a document — it gets indexed so Chunk can reference it when you chat. Use 'Documents Only' or 'All' search mode to include your notes in AI responses. Update it anytime after editing.
